New Bern Soccer Opens Season with Dominant 6-1 Win over West Carteret

Bears Varsity Soccer opened the 2026 season in emphatic fashion, rolling to a 6-1 non-conference victory over the visiting West Carteret Patriots on Tuesday night.

Spencer Goodwin led the charge with a hat trick, scoring three goals and adding an assist for a game-high seven points. Ever Ramirez contributed two assists as the Bears controlled the match from the opening whistle and improved to 1-0. West Carteret fell to 0-1.

Goalkeeper Jack Messer needed only one save in a relatively quiet night between the posts for New Bern.
